Basketball Federation of India headquarters

The Basketball Federation of India (BFI) is the national governing body for basketball in India, recognized by the Government of India, Indian Olympic Association, and International Basketball Federation (FIBA).

Established in 1950, BFI has been instrumental in the development and promotion of basketball across the country. With headquarters in New Delhi, BFI oversees all basketball activities in India, from grassroots development to elite national teams.

Our mission is to develop basketball as a premier sport in India by increasing participation, improving competitive standards, and achieving international success while upholding the values of sportsmanship, integrity, and inclusivity.

BFI is responsible for organizing national championships, developing coaching programs, training referees, selecting national teams, and implementing development initiatives across all age groups and skill levels.

Indian Team Secures Historic Bronze at Asian Games 2023

The Indian men's basketball team secured a historic bronze medal at the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China, marking India's first basketball medal at the Asian Games in 25 years. The team displayed exceptional skill and determination throughout the tournament, defeating higher-ranked opponents in the quarterfinals and semifinals before clinching the bronze medal match against Kazakhstan with a score of 78-72.

Captain Ravi Kumar led the team with 22 points and 8 rebounds in the final game, while young sensation Arjun Singh contributed 18 points. Coach Rajesh Srivastava praised the team's resilience and tactical execution. "This is a landmark achievement for Indian basketball. Our players have shown they can compete at the highest level in Asia," said Srivastava during the post-match press conference.

The victory has sparked renewed interest in basketball across India, with the Sports Ministry announcing additional funding for basketball development programs. BFI President Dr. K. S. Sharma stated, "This medal validates our development programs and provides inspiration for thousands of young basketball players across the country."
